Cordillera Huayhuash - enhance the worldwide famous trek with an extreme summit
The Cordillera Huayhuash is 30 km long and has Himalayan characteristics and its peaks are, morphologically speaking, much more hilly and have more difficult access than those from the Cordillera Blanca. Aligned north to south, the main range of some twenty peaks. Six of the peaks exceed 6,000 m, among which are Yerupajá (6617 m), the second highest mountain in Peru and Siula (6,344 m), made famous by Joe Simpson in Touching the Void.
In addition to the 9 day trek count 3-4 days for a summit. Ideal to get out of the transited trek. The mountains we offer are literally mind blowing ! For experienced climbers only.
Follows a brief overview of the trek:
day 1: Bus drive to Cord. Huayhuash to Cuartelhuain; (4150 m).
day 2: Matacancha – Cancanampunta (4700 m) – Laguna Mitacocha (4300 m).
day 3: Mitacocha – Punta Carhuac (4650 m) – Laguna Carhuacocha (4200 m).
day 4: Carhuacocha – pass 4900 m – Quesillococha/Carnicero (4400 m).
day 5: Carnicero – Huayhuash (4330 m) – Portachuelo Huayhuash (4730 m) – Laguna Viconga (4400 m).
day 6: Viconga – Punta Cuyoc (5020 m) – Huanacpatay (4325 m).
day 7: Huanacpatay – before pueblo Huayllapa (3600 m) in direction Punta Tapush; camp Huatiac (4300 m).
day 8: Huatiac – Punta Tapush (4800 m) – Laguna Susucocha – Cashgapampa (4500 m).
day 9: Cashgapampa – Punta Yaucha (4870 m) – camp Jahuacocha (4066 m).
day 10: Trekking Jahuacocha – Punta Mancan (4575 m) – Llamac (3400 m) - Bus drive - Huaráz. Option to Climb Diablo Mudo (5350 m)
